Terms
Draft of 27 September 2026
Draft, not legal advice
This page is a working draft that has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and its wording may change. It describes how Household Index works today.
These terms cover your use of Household Index, a service that reads photos of your rooms and suggests how to change them. In these terms, “we” means Household Index. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. The Refund page and the Privacy page are part of them.
The service
Household Index is new and still changing. Features may change, pause or be removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable or make mistakes. When a change affects what you have paid for, we will tell you before it takes effect.
Your account
You must be at least 18 to use Household Index. Each account is for one person. Give us an email address you control, keep your password private, and tell us at gflorence3@gmail.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
To keep out automated sign-ups, we run a bot check when you sign up or sign in and when you ask for new pictures.
What is free
Without a membership, each account can try one room: its Room Read and one new picture of it. This is once per account, not once per room.
Free pictures share a daily limit across everyone. When it is reached, free pictures pause until the next day. Your room stays saved.
Memberships
- Plans. There are two memberships, Monthly (up to 3 rooms) and Annual (up to 10 rooms). The price, the rooms and what is included are shown on the payment screen before you pay, and that is the price you are charged.
- Renders. Each new picture of a room uses one render. Both plans include 100 renders a month. On Monthly, unused renders end when the month ends. On Annual, unused renders carry over from month to month while the membership continues.
- Extra Takes. If you run out, you can buy a one-off pack of 20 more renders. Extra Takes don’t renew and don’t expire, but you need an active membership to use them.
- Automatic renewal. Memberships renew automatically, monthly or yearly, at the price shown when you joined, until you cancel. You agree to this by ticking the renewal box before you pay. For Annual, we remind you 15 to 45 days before it renews.
- Price changes. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you before the new price applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first.
- Cancelling. You can cancel online in one click from the Membership page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your membership and its renders last until the end of the period you have paid for. After that, your rooms stay viewable, but you can’t make new pictures without a membership.
- Refunds. You can get a full refund within 7 days of paying if you haven’t used any renders. The Refund page has the details. Otherwise, payments are not refunded, including for part of a period after you cancel, except where the law requires.
- Promo codes. We sometimes give out codes, such as a friends-and-family code, that reduce or remove the price. Each code has its own limits, such as a number of uses, and we may end a code for new sign-ups at any time.
- Payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Tax. We don’t currently add sales tax to memberships. If that changes, the payment screen will show it before you pay.
Your photos and content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload. You give us permission to store, copy and process them, including sending them to our AI model providers, only as needed to run the service for you, keep it secure and fix problems.
Only upload photos you have the right to use, of places you have permission to photograph. Don’t upload photos that show other people without their permission, or anything unlawful.
Safety checks. We automatically check what you type, the photos you upload and every new picture before it is saved or shown. We block sexual content, nude or partly nude real people, anything sexual or violent involving children, gore, hate symbols, self-harm, illegal activity, and putting a specific real person into a picture. Art in a room, such as a painting or sculpture, is allowed. If a check can’t run, nothing is made. Automatic checks can get things wrong; if one blocks something it shouldn’t, write to gflorence3@gmail.com.
What we make for you
Room Reads, pictures, plans and shopping suggestions are produced with AI. You may use them for your own home and share them with the people helping you. They are for personal use only: please don’t sell them or use them in advertising or other commercial work.
They are suggestions, not professional advice. Pictures are impressions of how a room could look, not exact renderings; colours, sizes and fit can differ in real life. Measure before you buy. Use a qualified professional for anything structural, electrical, plumbing or otherwise risky, and check your lease or landlord’s rules before changing a rented home.
Products and other sites
Shopping suggestions are similar items found on other retailers’ sites; they are not always the exact piece in a picture. Prices, stock and details come from those retailers and can change or be wrong. Anything you buy is between you and the retailer, under its terms.
We don’t earn a commission on product links.
Share links
If you make a share link, anyone who has it can view that plan until you stop sharing. You are responsible for who you send it to.
Fair use
Don’t misuse the service: no attempts to break into it or other people’s accounts, overload it, get around its limits or checks, copy it at scale with automated tools, or use it to make content that is illegal, harmful or infringes someone else’s rights.
Ending your use
You can stop using Household Index at any time and ask us to delete your account, as the Privacy page describes. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a membership by itself, so cancel it first.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we close your account or stop the service for a reason that isn’t your fault, we will refund the unused part of any membership period you have paid for, and try to give reasonable notice so you can save anything you want to keep.
No guarantees and limits on liability
The service is provided “as is”, without promises that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions and purchases you make based on the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We will change the date at the top, and if a change matters, let you know before it takes effect. If you keep using Household Index after that, the new terms apply.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, with disputes heard in the courts of California. Questions go to Household Index at gflorence3@gmail.com, or see the contact page.
